Soho Films forms new strategic alliance in Hollywood
Soho Films has struck an exclusive deal with Max Freedman Management at AFM in Santa Monica this week to jointly manage a number of movie producers, directors and screenwriters.
Soho Film & Media Ltd, the UK management arm of Soho Films based in London’s eponymous movie district, has had an office in LA since 2003 but will now be able to focus on its core strength of sourcing projects and talent from the UK and Europe.
SFM Chairman Lee Thomas says: “This strategic alliance is a fantastic opportunity to expand our activities in what is obviously the hub of the motion picture industry. With a combined client base, and the synergy that already exists between our two companies, we will be able to broker significantly more deals – particularly with the projects and talent coming out of the UK that deserve the chance to be packaged in what is the movie capital of the world.”
MFM Principal Max Freedman says: “We have already been working with Soho Films on a number of projects and their ability to operate at many levels – in development as well as with completed films – will give us a far greater edge in introducing quality projects to the key decision makers in Hollywood and around the world.”
Both Freedman and Thomas will continue to produce and executive produce, both together and independently. The team’s latest project, scheduled to shoot in 2009, is the very timely Crashing Wall Street – a UK/US co-production to be executive produced by Stephen Evans (Confessions of a Dangerous Mind /The Madness of King George/Much Ado About Nothing). The screenplay is by Los Angeles based award-winning writer Susan Touchbourne.
